Taliban claim Afghan attack killing two Americans
KABUL: The Taliban are claiming responsibility for what may have been the latest insider attack against Western troops.
They say one of their infiltrators killed two American service members in Uruzgan province.
A statement Friday said an Afghan soldier shot the men a day earlier, and then escaped to join the insurgents.
A spokeswoman for US forces in Afghanistan said authorities were still determining whether the attacker was a member of the Afghan security forces or an insurgent who donned a government uniform.
It was the second suspected insider attack in two days. On Wednesday, two British troops and an Afghan policeman were gunned down in Helmand province.
The spate of insider attacks has further undermined public support for the 11-year war in Nato countries and increased calls for earlier withdrawals.

I am not sure which world r.s.soni lives in. Mullah Umar is not responsible for the war it is the US. When Taliban asked for evidence against OBL so that he can be tried in Afghanistan, why did the US not provide that evidence. If it was the other way round US would have insisted on getting the evidence to try the culprit in the US, why could US not accept an international law. Mullah Umar is a resident of Afghanistan, US and NATO are the invaders, in the same way the Russia invaded Afghanistan. Mullah Umar fought against the Russians with the full support of US. Why is it that when you kill a Russian soldier, you are called the Mujahadene (by the US) but when you kill a western soldier for the same reason (liberating your country from the occupiers), you are called a terrorist. I don’t support the Taliban but US is by far the bigger terroist in the world, responsible for far more deaths than Taliban.
Sir, war is avoidable. Mullah muhamad umar is respnsible for it. US had just askd for Osma. Many religous teachers also advised OBL to leave the country but Mullah was adamant and claimed OBL was a guest of the country. Large number of innocent Afghans have been killed and so Have Nato troops. Now Mullah claims that when all foreign troops leave the country, no civil war like nineties will take place. Peace will prevail and Karzai can continue to rule. Mullah is not sincere in his negotiations with US with sincerity fearing that US might withdraw even before 2014 to prevent further bloodshed. As regards prisoners in Guantanamo, the issue can be discussed separately and resolved and should not be a stumbling block towards peace. I feel sorry for Afghans who have suffered since 1979.
The US gave them no proof of Bin Laden’s involvement. The discussions over handing over OBL never really happened as the US had already started sounding the trumpets of war. They should have had some form of dialogue with the Taliban back then. I can’t see how the US will completely out before 2014. I don’t see it happening. The problem was and still is the US’s war mongering attitude.
