ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar visited Egypt as a Special Envoy of the President of Pakistan on Wednesday.

During her stay in Cairo, she called on President Dr Mohammad Morsi and extended to him an invitation for participation in the D-8 Summit being held in Islamabad on November 22.

She also invited President Morsi on behalf of the President Zardari to undertake a bilateral visit to Pakistan on November 23-24.

The Egyptian President, while accepting the invitations, reiterated Egypt's desire to forge closer and stronger ties with Pakistan.

Foreign Minister Khar also held a meeting with her Egyptian counterpart Mohammad Kamel Amr.

Besides discussing the entire gamut of bilateral relations, the two ministers also discussed regional and international issues of mutual interest.

The foreign ministers expressed their confidence that President Morsi's visit to Pakistan would further expand and deepen bilateral ties.

On the sidelines of the visit, Foreign Minister Khar also held a meeting with Secretary General of Arab League Nabil el Arabi and exchanged views on matters of mutual interest, including the Palestine issue and the situation in Syria.
