KARACHI, Oct 31: A man died after consuming toxic liquor in Korangi on Wednesday, police said While area people said tainted liquor claimed at least five lives over the past five days, the police said that they had not found the other four victims.

“We have information of only one man who died after taking toxic liquor in the Hindu Para area,” said Ibarhim Hyderi SHO Inspector Naik Mohammad Jakhrani. “We have also surveyed the area and questioned people but did not find any clue to establish such claims. Our investigations, however, are still on.”

When asked, the police could not come up with the name of the only victim.

An area resident told Dawn that five young men died after consuming tainted liquor during Eid and two working days afterwards.

“They all were residents of Hindu Para and taken to 100 Bed Hospital in Korangi where none of them survived. They have been identified as Kishan, Raju, Faqir Das, Prem and Kishan,” he said.
