Wattoo asks Shahbaz to quit
LAHORE, Nov 3: PPP Central Punjab President Manzoor Wattoo said on Saturday that Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s government was facing a constitutional crisis after a verdict in the Asghar Khan case.
Talking to reporters after a party office-bearers meeting at the Faisal Town secretariat, he said Shahbaz should now quit the office after the Supreme Court’s verdict.
“Shahbaz’s position has become controversial as Article 62 of the Constitution applies to him and he can no more stick to the office of the chief minister,” he said.
Flanked by Aslam Gill, Tanvir Ashraf Kaira, Usman Malik and Falak Sher, Wattoo said the Punjab government was using the local body funds for the PML-N election campaign. He said the Supreme Court should take notice of this.
Law Minister Rana Sanuallah said Wattoo should wait for a detailed judgment of the apex court before demanding the chief minister to step down.
Meanwhile, Wattoo dissolved the provincial organisation of the party.
