Army to be deployed in Hangu during Muharram
KOHAT, Nov 4: The authorities have decided to call out army in the most sensitive Hangu district for maintaining peace during the month of Muharram. Additional police and FC force would be deployed in the whole Kohat division for the purpose.
This was decided at a meeting to review the security plan prepared for the Muharram on Sunday. Commissioner Kohat division Sahibzada Mohammad Anees chaired the meeting attended by religious leaders, DCOs, DPOs and army officials. It was also emphasised that serious efforts should be initiated to maintain harmony during the month.
The meeting decided to form peace committees headed by the DCO and political administrations to hold regular meetings with the leaders of both the Shia and Sunni sects to remove all kind of confusion among them.
WEST’S CONSPIRACY: The Shia and Sunni leaders on Sunday condemned the blasphemous film at a national conference on ‘movement for awakening of Muslim Ummah’ and termed it an anti-Muslim conspiracy of the West.
The conference was attended by the Shia and Sunni leaders, which was held at Chakar Kot Bala amid tight security arrangements. Those who spoke included among others Maulana Azizur Rehman, Maulana Mohammad Ali, Minister for Food Engr Syed Qalbe Hassan, provincial vice-president of PML-N Engr Malik Asad, district khateeb Hangu Maulana Anwar Jawadi and former chief justice Peshawar High Court Syed Ibne Ali.
The speakers criticised the ‘attempts’ of the West to harm the religious sentiments of Muslims and warned of strong reaction if the practice was not stopped.
They were of the view that the US-Zionist lobby had bought loyalties of some Muslim leaders to promote their policy. They also condemned attack on Malala Yousafzai.—Correspondent
