QUETTA, Nov 6: Balochistan Assembly Speaker Mohammad Aslam Bhootani has expressed ignorance about a move by Governor Zulfiqar Magsi to convene a session of the provincial assembly on Nov 13.

“I am still unaware of the move about convening the assembly session on Nov 13 in Quetta,” Mr Bhootani told Dawn on Tuesday from Islamabad where he is attending a conference of speakers of Saarc states.

The spokesman of the Balochistan government had told journalists on Monday that the governor had convened the session on Nov 9 in the port city of Gwadar.

Speaker Bhootani said he would take a decision in accordance with the constitution after receiving the written advice of Governor Magsi.

“I have not yet received any advice from him,” the speaker said.

Meanwhile, the Balochistan government spokesman said that the governor has convened the assembly session on a summary moved by the chief minister. The session had not been convened by the speaker, he added.
