KARACHI: Ansar Abbas’ brace helped Pakistan Army move level on points with the Pakistan Premier Football League leaders Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) after a 2-0 victory over Wohaib FC on Thursday.
Army climbed to 43 points but they have played three more games than KRL and also have an inferior goal-difference.
Ansar struck in the 45th and the 82nd minute of their match at Islamabad’s Jinnah Football Stadium against bottom club Wohaib who now look certain to be relegated having chalked just one win in their 19 matches.
In the other clash at the same venue, Wapda overpowered Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) 3-0 to take their points tally to 25.Waseem Abbas’ goal in the 30th was followed by Mohammad’s strike in the 57th before Zainullah confirmed all three points with a goal in the 85th.
Elsewhere in Chaman, around 15,000 spectators were present at the Government High School Ground to witness Muslim FC chalked up their fifth successive win as they recorded a come-from-behind 2-1 victory over Karachi Port Trust (KPT).
After Sarmad had given KPT the lead in the 28th minute, Asmatullah and Hayatullah replied for the hosts to take their points to 34 from 20 matches.
