LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif on Friday blamed ‘army generals’ for conspiring against his elected government in the past saying gunny bags full of money were brought in Punjab to topple his rule, DawnNews reported.

Speaking during an interview to a private news channel, Sharif declared the task of bringing law and situation of the country to normalcy an uphill task. Situation in Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and in Karachi is getting out of control, he said.

Sharif said that his party will form an electoral alliance with a political party which would ensure peace in Karachi. “We might not need any alliance prior to elections anyway,” he added.

The former prime minister dismissed the allegations that he received money from former Mehran Bank head Younis Habib. “Had I received money and had he been kind enough to us, my government would have not fired him from his post,” he added.

Commenting on the Supreme Court’s verdict on Asghar Khan case and potential investigation by the FIA against him, Sharif said that he would accept the probe despite the fact that the agency reports to Interior Minister Rehman Malik. He stressed that the government should implement the apex court orders in letter and spirit.

Commenting on politics in Punjab, the PML-N chief said that his party has strong candidates contesting the next general elections from every constituency of the province. However, he said, the PML-N will accept the poll results even if they lose, adding that his party has put up with the incumbent government with humility.

Sharif demanded the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) government to announce dates for elections and end the ‘suspense.’

Nawaz has dismissed the allegations that he received money from former Mehran Bank head , but didn't mentioned he didnt take money in Asghar Khan case , it clearly illustrate what he is trying to say ...

Dont know he can talk like that now, He started politics with all support from Generals, ie Gen Gillani and Gen Zia. He is product of generals himself! Twice CM, twice PM, twice CM Shahbaz, what else they want? isnt enough for Pakistani people, dont they deserve some new and sincere leaders!

Mr. Sharif needs to tell us that why should we the people of punjab (minus Lahore) vote for him. PML(n) spent whole of punjab's budget in Lahore. Shehbaz Sharif is more of a Lahore mayor than chief minister of Punjab. Ask them this question and they will mention Danish schoold as if building a school in a whole district is what should be happy with. Mr. Sharif have no economic agenda, other than distributing laptops, taxies and non-starter internships.

Nawaz it were a different set of self appointed guardians of Pakistan that got rid of you. Unless you and the other pols decide to try these generals for their treason, this may happen again. But for the Supreme court this would have happened last year

It has become a tradition of our politicians that they kept themselves quiet on everything be it corruption on the part of their opponent either sitting in power corridor or crying for sitting on opposition benches or not elected by the real voters. Why Politicians of calibre like nawaz and former pm gilani, ch shujaat, sh rasheed keeps crying and exposing corruption on different tv channels when the elections are nearer? Plz somebody help me understand the logic behind this kind of politics and also why the ruling government keep saying that the parliament is supreme and President has impunity? what i if President kills an innocent then he will have impunity just because he is President or any MNA MPA Federal or Provincial Minister, secretaries are not persocuted? why police even FIA and NAB keep protecting them and what is the fault of ordainary man who ssteal something just to feed his family and get caught, he goes to jail for years why there is so much injustice plz convince me or stand up and support me. salmantanvir@hotmail.com

ASghar Khan's case proves that none of the current politician is worthy to lead the nation, they all are self centered and corrupt. No way I am trying to protect the Army but in this case I think they had no other choice. The rulers at the time along with their existing / ex allies were not only incompetent but were also involved in extreme corruption , nepotism , mass murder of their suspected rivals and in order to stay in power ignored the security requirements of the country they were ruling. Common people can only see the bright side of the picture and is always unable to see what is going on behind the closed doors, just like me all of them believed in " Jeyai Bhutto " and that's all. They were ignorant of being exploited in the name of Bhutto, thus were bent to elect the same people. In these adverse circumstances few patriotic and honest people who were fully aware of grave situation had two choices, first choice was to impose Martial Law and become the rulers, the second choice was to support the politicians who could steer the country out of that grave situation. These honest people opted for the second choice they had but Unfortunately the politicians they selected for this nobel cause proved no better than their predecessors. WE HAVE LOT OF EGGS IN OUR BASKET BUT ALAS ALL OF THEM ARE ROTTEN.
