Alternative to YouTube

A LOT of people are arguing about the ban on YouTube. I would rather say that it is time for some entrepreneurs in Pakistan to come forward and start a video sharing website where people can upload videos and share.

As far as the availability of the technical and international content is concerned, the more people would use it, the more content we would have.

Anyone who has some video that can be helpful should upload that for others to use it. Besides, there is a market for a local video sharing website as YouTube is banned in Pakistan and Iran.

So, when the market is set and the need is identified why not some Pakistani entrepreneurs come forward and take it. Why does not the Pakistani corporate sector take a look at this? The world is full of opportunities, not obstacles.

Examinees’ woes

YOUTUBE has been banned for the last two months in Pakistan. Every student, businessman and people who use this website for improvement in their respective field cannot access this website.

I myself am preparing for civil service examinations. I used to visit YouTube for videos on various topics. But, unfortunately, since the website is banned, I am not able to access a lot of informative content which can help me prepare for examinations and enhance my knowledge.

I request the authorities concerned to resolve the issue which has become a big problem for the Muslim community as it is being deprived of knowledge.

And how long would it be before someone displayed an "offensive" video clip on the new site and someone called for it to be banned? The issue here is that there will almost always be someone who finds something offensive. What is offensive to one may not be offensive to another, and who gets to make the decision? The Taliban find it offensive that girls are going to schools.

Chinese version of youtube is youku (not youkou). It has second largest content after youtube but it is painfully slow.

Though Youtube is a productive website, but lets not forget the fact that it has made us more dependable and lame. I found Youtube a failure to increase in the intellectuality of a men, where as going out in search of a good material to learn and I have found it very much productive then Youtube.

Sabiha, this is an excellent idea. Pakistanins are not short of any skillset either. This option should be considered by Pakistani entrepreneurs.

People in Pakistan are already using youtube using fake ip addresses and fake proxy servers.We are great liars and cheaters and we dont want to do anything in a legal legit proper way.

In China You tube is banned and so is face book , however in China you may find Youkou an alternative to You tube.Thousands of Pakistanis including myself are doing Phd from China but we are surviving .

Youtube should not be reinstated in Pakistan as it has been a source of propagation of slanderous content for a personality who is dearer to all muslims than their own parents. I would actually go to the extent of recommending we ban the entire google group of web services to make the impact of our resolve felt to the company. Do not forget they make money out of you!
