LAHORE, Nov 10: A team of the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) on Saturday removed various encroachments in a two-hour long operation in Barkat Market, Garden Town.
The team, led by directors (town planning, estate management and enforcement wings) Nadeem Akhtar Zaidi, Rana Usman and Khwaja Javed Aslam Sahaf, demolished an illegal juice shop and some poultry shops along the road leading to Model Town in the Barkat Market.
The officials also warned shopkeepers not to extend their shops up to footpaths and other public utility sites.
POLIO: The City District Government of Lahore on Saturday held a ceremony in Fazal Colony in order to inaugurate another three-day round of the anti-polio drive starting from Monday (tomorrow).
The district coordination officer inaugurated the drive by administering anti-polio drops to various Pakhtoon and gypsy families’ children there.
Speaking on the occasion, the DCO said the upcoming drive would ensure getting as many as 1.5 million children of up to five-year-old administered anti-polio drops.
He directed the officials to take legal action against those refusing to get their kids administered drops.
The DCO said the CDGL had also formed monitoring teams to evaluate performance of the field teams during the campaign.
SEALED: The LDA commercialisation wing on Saturday sealed 15 properties after their owners failed to pay the requisite fee for long.
The officials sealed nine properties/buildings (offices and restaurants etc) in Gulshan-i-Ravi and five in Gulberg.
TRANSFERS: LDA Director General Ahad Cheema on Saturday transferred Tepa Director (Studies) Muhammad Idrees, appointing him as director (Buildings-I) in the LDA.
According to a press release, the DG also posted Muntazir Muhammad Asad Mir, awaiting posting, in place of Mr Idrees.
Meanwhile LDA Additional DG (Headquarters) Ms Maryum Kayani extended suspension period of Assistant Director (General Cadre) Akhtar Ali for 90 days.
CERTIFICATE: An LDA spray man, Iftikhar Ahmad, was awarded an appreciation certificate by the chief minister for showing excellent performance during the anti-dengue campaign-2012.
He received certificate from the CM at the opening session of the tow-day international conference on dengue on Saturday, says a press release.
