I RECENTLY took my wife and son to Rawalpindi passport office where I faced several problems. The passport office is located near Haji Camp, Peshawar Road.

The passport fee was required to be deposited at NBP Mall Road branch. I had to go all the way to the bank. Why can’t this be done near passport office or in the same building.

Having paid the bank challan when we reached passport office, my wife was allowed to enter the passport office as there were less women, but my son was asked to wait outside the gate.

Isn’t it strange? Somehow when I requested officers concerned they allowed my son to enter the office for processing.

There was very thin staff till 1.00pm with no mood to make the system speedy. At 1.00pm, more staff arrived and process started with more speed. My wife managed to clear all processing by 2.00pm but she had to wait for my son till 3.30pm.

I opted for regular delivery for passport processing. Passport process was held on Sept 24 and delivery date given was Oct 11.

But till now I am unable to obtain the passports. The delivery clerk later deleted Oct 11 as delivery date and by hand endorsed 45 days as processing time. Why can’t we make these systems trouble-free?
