Progress not possible without empowering the underprivileged: PM

LAHORE: Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf on Tuesday said until the underprivileged sections of a society were not empowered, the country would not progress, DawnNews reported.
Speaking at a ceremony in Lahore, Prime Minister Ashraf said the people of Pakistan would decide which party would form the government as a result of the general elections.
He said the government did not have a squabble with any group or party and neither did it want to get embroiled into one.
The prime minister moreover said a single person did not have the power and the people would have to work together for the country’s progress.
He added that all sections of society would have to play their respective roles in bringing the country out of its present crises.
The premier said the politics of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) centred around the poor and the underprivileged, adding that, the PPP government had made that clear through its policies.

Indirectly elected leaders and indirect taxation make the vote meaningless.

I have been following goings on in Pakistan for some time, and I have not seen any”politics of the PPP centered around the poor and the underprivileged” occurring anywhere in your country from the earthquake ravaged and flood affected people. Forget about schooling or health care for the poor or help to the minorities.Would be happy to know which group is the PM referring to.
The PPP government during its tenure in power did everything to empower the feudal forces at the cost of the under-privileged .Now, they are trying to change their feathers for the coming elections.
