ISLAMABAD, Nov 13: The Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar, has said that his government has been able to restore law and order in the Indian state by ensuring better coordination between the executive and judiciary.

During a meeting with Imran Khan and other leaders of Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf at the PTI chief’s residence here on Tuesday, Mr Kumar said speedy justice could strengthen people’s trust in the democratic process.

Mr Kumar said another factor that helped his government in improving the law and order situation was that it had ensured protection of state witnesses and used information technology to its advantage while dealing with criminals.

“We posted the data of criminals and mafia groups on the websites for the general public and government officials,” he said, adding that sustainable policies coupled with determination could yield better results.

Mr Khan said good governance was good politics, adding that if elected to power the PTI would restore the law and order across the country within 90 days. Pakistan should benefit from successful experiences of the Bihar government, he said.

He said the PTI government would introduce land reform and do away with the Patwari system which was one of the biggest problems faced by the country.

Senior PTI leaders Makhdoom Javed Hashmi, Shafqat Mahmood, Jahangir Tareen, Khursheed Kasuri and Naeemul Haq were present.

Meeting with Farzana Raja: Earlier, Mr Kumar accompanied by a delegation of Indian ministers, lawmakers and officials of the Indian High Commission called on Federal Minister and Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme Farzana Raja.

Mr Kumar said various schemes aimed at poverty reduction and creating jobs were running in India, particularly in the state of Bihar. However, he noted, BISP was a unique intervention in the social sector as it was offering various services under one roof.
