This is with reference to an article, “Religion and politics” by Zubeida Mustafa (Nov 7) in which she emphasised the abrogation of Article 2A of the constitution of Pakistan.

Being a student of law, I feel that the Objectives Resolution is the root cause of all atrocities and persecution of different segments of society, especially the minorities. This is the right time to rectify or repeal all of such discriminatory provisions.

There is no country which has been established on the basis of religion except Israel and Pakistan. Does it mean that we are going to compare ourselves with Israel?

COMMENTS

  1. Billion Shia’s killed in street of Pakistan in the name of Sectarianism.

  2. The students of law should also study Islamic law. There is no complete Deen but Islam. Only Islam has right to rule. It is very strange that Islam is being compared with other religions . All other religions are not in their true shape. They have no right to be abide by. It is request to all Muslims study Islam as a system of collective and individual life. Thanks

  3. Religion and Politics are not viable mixtures. Ziaul Haq created this problem through his Islamization agenda. The seed sown by him sprouted in the shape of Cactus plants with King cobras, vipers etc creeping under it. It has been experienced in Europe where Sectarian riots were common, Church burning during congregations were witnessed.

  4. Juda ho deen siasat se to reh jati hai Changezi

  5. I agree with you entirely. The previous comment writer on the same subject wrote about India being a secular state and yet atrocities on minorities are common there too and so what. Surely, we do not have to follow bad examples. Take examples of some of the developed western countries where it seems the true Islamic principles of tolerance regarding minorities are in force.

  6. Israel is now a Secular country. It was created as country for a race not religion.
