LAHORE, Nov 18: Reconciliatory gesture by government high-ups prevented a press conference by Majlis Wahdat-i-Muslemeen against what it said the unbecoming attitude of the Lahore DCO here on Sunday.

The body representing Shia community wanted to condemn alleged removal of Muharram-related banners from the city roads.

In an announcement, the body’s secretary general Allama Abdul Khaliq Asadi said the authorities had assured the Majlis of amicable resolution of the issue. However, he said, the body’s future course of action would be announced on Monday (today) after assessing the attitude of government high-ups. — Staff Reporter
