KABUL: A meeting Tripartite Commission (TPC) was held Tuesday at Afghan Ministry of Defence, Kabul today, ISPR sources said.

The meeting was part of tripartite coordination mechanism and attended by Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, Acting Isaf Commander Lieutenant General Nicholas Carter and Afghan COGS General Sher Muhammad Karimi along with their delegations.

Ongoing military operations in Afghanistan and Pakistani tribal areas were discussed in the meeting.

The participants also signed a document for tripartite border coordination mechanism to improve near border coordination.

They also "discussed transition of responsibility from Isaf to ANSF as per the Isaf drawdown plan 2014 and measures to gradually enhance Pakistan - Afghan bilateral border coordination arrangements till and beyond 2014," said ISPR press release.

The three parties agreed to continue cooperation for enduring success, peace and stability on both sides of the border.

General Kayani called on Afghan President Hamid Karzai before the TPC meeting at his Presidential palace in which matters of mutual interest were discussed.

Earlier on Tuesday, General Kayani met with  Richard Olson, Ambassador of United States of America at General Headquarters (GHQ) Rawalpindi. Kayani welcomed Olson on his appointment as Ambassador.

He also held meeting with Gen Sir David Richards, Chief of Defence Staff, United Kingdom yesterday. Richards remained with the  COAS for some time and discussed matters of professional interest.
