The Senate Standing Committee on Interior, during a detailed briefing given by the Director-General (DG) of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Friday, suggested that the FIA should be given jurisdiction in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata).
The meeting was presided by Senator Talha Mehmood, and Col (retired) Syed Tahir Hussain Mashhadi, Sardar Fateh Mohammad Hassani and Shahi Syed were also present in the meeting.
DG FIA, Mohammad Anwar Virk, said the agency had been established in 1974 by an act of Parliament, and it had a countrywide mandate, except in Fata.
