LAKKI MARWAT, Nov 22: The house of MPA Yasmeen Zia was damaged in a blast in Naurang town of the district on the night between Wednesday and Thursday.

Police said that a homemade explosive device planted by unidentified militants near the house of woman lawmaker of the ruling Awami National Party went off with a big bang at midnight. The explosion damaged the main gate and stairs to the upper storey of house, they added.“The MPA and her husband Advocate Sadruddin, the district president of ANP, were not present in the house at the time of explosion,” an official said, adding that the other inmates remained unhurt.

A contingent of law enforcers reached the place and cordoned of the area soon after the incident and launched a search operation. Police registered a case against unidentified militants.

The leaders of ANP including its district senior vice president Mamraiz Khan, vice president Humayun Khan and information secretary Daulat Khan Marwat condemned the bomb attack on the house of Ms Zia.

The Lakki Bar Association president Naimatullah Khan also condemned the blast and demanded of the government to take measures for security of Advocate Sadruddin and his spouse.

Meanwhile, police arrested a prisoner, escaped from Bannu jail, on the outskirts of Abakhel on Thursday.On a tip off, a police party raided a place near Chunai Bridge and arrested Saeedullah, who had escaped from Bannu jail in April this year.

Police also recovered a hand grenade from his possession and registered a case against him.
