Thank you Asif, I enjoyed reading it. Although I would have like more details on the subject, from a perspective of someone who doesn’t know any history, or someone who is not from subcontinent area. Therefore, in my most humble feedback, article needs lots of creative background information, not an easy task. But nevertheless great effort. Please also point to a source where one can buy Shahid Ali Naqvi’s book, I am in USA and couldn’t find on the web, much thanks and look forward to your next article.

As long as Prophet, peace be upon him, he will not encourage violence for ANYTHING, not just for such small things. There may be no harm in following your own tradition, BUT follow tradition as tradition, do not make it a part of religion. Wouldn’t it b better to do all Majalis and related activities inside with more intensified security, rather than long processions with threat to life and property of people in these processions, and discomfort to masses by shutting down the phone service?

There had been clashes between Shia and Sunni in India specially in Lucknow and Kanpur on minor scale not with fire arm ..but mostly cases of stabbing & vandalism. It was big problem in 70s and 80s.I am not up to date after moving to USA.This is not a secret ..you can find it with very little research.

This is a little strange, to put it mildly. The author suggests that there have been conflicts with ‘agitated members of the majority community’ in India. Before putting such claims before Pakistani public, does anyone care to verify those claims? Oddly, the Shia-Sunni violence which has been the regular feature every year almost is not even mentioned.

Tradition is just that. Why do we have to be so narrow minded that every small things becomes a issue of Sunnah or not.
If Prophet (PBUH) were alive today and would have been asked this qs. I am sure he would have not incited violence or hate for such a small things.
Let us take tradition as it is and not make everything a hugh Islamic issue.
