SANGHAR, Nov 24 Four children died and over 20 others were being treated for high fever in two villages of Khipro taluka in Sanghar district on Saturday.

Parents of the children belonging to Dur Mohammad Rajpar and Abbas Solangi villages said they fell sick after getting vaccinated.

According to sources, the children suffered from high fever and had identical symptoms and their parents took them to hospitals.

The sources said that about 25 children treated for high fever during the week had been given the routine childhood vaccination against measles, bronchitis and pneumonia.

However, it could not be ascertained which of the vaccines was responsible for the unusual ailment among the children.

The deceased were identified as five-month-old Ilyas, five-month-old Aleem, four-month-old Eid and 10-day-old Samar.

Assistant District Officer (health) Gul Hassan Magsi said a special medical team had been sent to the village to investigate the matter and provide treatment to the affected children.

He, however, did not agree that the mysterious disease had actually been caused by some vaccine.
