Tackling Taliban
From the Newspaper | 28th November, 2012
THIS refers to the letter ‘Defining Taliban’ (Nov 15) by S.K. Hussain who has discussed Thuggee and Dacoit Suppression Acts 1836-1848.
Our parliament should match the courage of little Malala and enact a law similar to the law made by the then East India Company’s Lord William Bentinck and executed by William Henry Sleeman.
The thugs were eliminated within a year by using the Acts. The Acts empowered the courts to sentence an accused of thuggery only on the evidence of a single witness even if the witness was a turncoat thug.

Law already exists in Books. Pak Constitution # 256 says, no Non Government Militias permitted. All JehaaDi grous and Taliban are just that if Pak Military is claiming they do not work for it. Problem is Pak Military, not courts.
Taliban now Frankeinstein.
Our judicial system is morally corrupt. Malik Ishaq was allowed to walk free based on lack of evidence, his organization has claimed responsibility for many killings, yet there is a lack of evidence?
A brilliant idea at last ! it needs courage, determination and sincerity. Wish somebody comes forward to implement it.
Bring the system of capital punishment and need not to wait for an year too.
What we need to do is give the Taliban a taste of their own medicine. Arrests quick trials and instant sentencing. These men need to be paraded on national television as the faces of evil who are being wipped of the face of the earth.
Need seriousness and whole hearted effort with public backing…any good idea will work.
Somebody has the right idea finally
Ideas are plenty. What we need is William Henry Sleeman!
superb reply!!!!!!
The British had this idea 160 years ago. And they implemented it. Something beyond the reach of Pakistan even with today’s technology available to it.
