Only Allah(SWT) decides where a cyclone goes, noone else. I have also heard this about Abdullah Shah Ghazi shrine but believe it to be a myth.

Pakistanis are hero worshippers. They take pride in those who did heroic acts in the past, even centuries ago, as if we are the achievers. Past is history, and should be taken as such for knowledge, not as pride as if we did it. It is a dangrous thinking which can disable us to achieve ourselves.

I don’t think one has to be a Sufi to be respected or to be a saint (with miracles). Hazrat Abdullah Shah Ghazi was a direct descendant of the Prophet SAWS and he was revered because of that and his taqwa and pure and saintly lifestyle. (though it has been heard, that the city of Karachi has never been hit by a cyclone and they are diverted elsewhere when they reach the coast because of him, But Allah knows best)

From what i’ve read, i think there is some confusion between “ashab-e-suffa” and “sufi,” which are different. The word sufi originated from “suf” or “soof,” pertaining to the wollen dress these people wore.
