LAHORE, Nov 29: The City District Government of Lahore announced on Thursday that it would fully cooperate with the Pakistan Cricket Board in holding matches of T-20 Tournament of Faysal Bank successfully.
“We will help the PCB and the authorities concerned in holding matches at various cricket grounds, including the Qadhafi Stadium, for providing entertainment to cricket lovers,” DCO Noorul Amin Mengal expressed these views while presiding over a meeting at the National Cricket Academy in connection with reviewing arrangements in this regard.
The meeting was attended by PCB Director-General Javed Miandad, Model Town Assistant Commissioner Amina Munir, CDGL’s Public Facility department head Fahad Anees Qureshi, SP Waqas Ahmad, the DO Sports and various officials concerned.
The DCO directed the officials concerned to complete all necessary arrangements without any delay.
“Officials must start repairing/constructing roads outside the Qadhafi Stadium, Bagh-i-Jinnah and the LCCA ground besides making the streetlights functional there,” he said.
He promised to provide service of around 100 volunteers of the Civil Defence department to assist police officials in implementing a foolproof security plan for matches.
He said the CDGL would also provide two ambulances to the PCB in order to deal with any emergent medical situation.
He also ordered to set up a temporary hospital outside the stadium.
VISIT: The DCO paid a surprise visit to Roshan Islamia School in Gulberg area and took notice after he was informed about the non-cooperation of the school management in the ongoing polio drive.
He warned the school administration to mend its ways, directing it to cooperate with polio teams in administering polio drops to the children.
ALLOTMENT: The Punjab Land Development Committee on Thursday allotted houses to 46 more deserving people in the Ashyana Housing Scheme through computerized balloting.
Committee chief Sheikh Allauddin said the government would continue allotting houses to the poor people under the pro-poor initiatives of the Punjab government.
PRICE: Various price control magistrates continued a crackdown on shopkeepers on Thursday and got three cases registered against shopkeepers for overcharging and hoarding in various parts of the city.
According to a handout, officials visited scores of shops and found 152 shopkeepers violating the price control rules.
They also imposed a fine of Rs107,850 on 139 shopkeepers.
