TIMERGARA, Nov 30: The PPP MPA Mohammad Zamin Khan advocate on Friday complained that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had ignored his constituency in the rehabilitation and development projects despite being the worst-affected area due to militancy and mass displacement in 2009-10.

Speaking at a news conference at the Timergara Press Club, MPA Mohammad Zamin Khan, who is also the chairman of the district development advisory committee, said the KP government had inked Rs14 billion project with the government of Japan, but his Maidan constituency in Lower Dir had been ignored in the project.

The PPP lawmaker said roads, hospitals and schools had been damaged by militants and then military offensive in Maidan that needed government's extra attention. He complained that neither new development projects were started in his constituency nor the old and damaged infrastructure had been rehabilitated.

The lawmaker said his area was also neglected in ‘from farm to market’, project that was aimed to develop link roads in backward areas to enable farmers’ easy access to the market.

“I gave a proposal for construction and widening of the Odigram-Barawal road to President's spokesman Farhatullah Babar during his visit to Maidan a few days ago,” Zamin Khan said, adding Mr Babar had promised to talk with the president and prime minister in this regard.

He said if executed the project would change life of the people of both Lower and Upper Dir.

The PPP lawmaker said being chairman of the DDAC he had no funds to utilise on people’s welfare in the district especially in his native constituency. He demanded of the federal and KP governments to approve special package for the people of Maidan ahead of the next general election.
