PESHAWAR: An explosion near Shahab Khel police checkpost on Kohat road in Peshawar's Budh Bher area early on Monday killed two policemen and injured two others.

A police mobile van was the target of the attack which was completely destroyed. One of the victims was identified as an ASI in the police.

SP (rural) while talking to Dawn.com's correspondent said that the explosion was carried out by a remote-controlled Improvised Explosive Device (IED) and that two kilograms of explosives was used in the bomb.

Rescue and emergency forces reached the site of explosion.

Security forces cordoned off the area as investigations into the blast went underway.
