RAWALPINDI, Dec 2: Nisar Ahmed from Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda), on Sunday, won the international cycle race from Rawalpindi to Murree, arranged by the Punjab government.

The winner managed to complete the 60 kilometres route from Rawalpindi to Murree, in 2 hrs and 30 minutes. Asghar Ali, a cyclist from Afghanistan, clinched second position, while another cyclist from Afghanistan, Rameen, secured third position.

Punjab government on Sunday had arranged the cycle race; 60 cyclists from twelve teams participated in the race. Two teams from Afghanistan and Iran also participated in the race.

MNA Hanif Abbasi saw off the cyclists from Rawalpindi. They were received by Punjab Chief Minister Adviser, Raja Ashfaq Sarwar, in Murree.

Punjab Cycling Federation General Secretary, Idress Khawaja, Divisional Sports Officer, Munzar Shah, District Officer, Waheed Babar and others were present on the occasion.—A Reporter
