No orders issued to open YouTube: PTA spokesman

ISLAMABAD: A spokesman of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) on Monday clarified that it had not ordered to open the access of YouTube in Pakistan.

YouTube was blocked in Pakistan on the directives of the Prime Minister on the blasphemous movie uploaded issue.

Taking notice of the there are rumours that the government has opened the YouTube and the reports that some service providers and operators have opened the access of YouTube in Pakistan, the spokesman said,” Neither we have directed any service providers and operators to open YouTube nor PTA has received such instruction from the government.”

According to a PTA press release, the authority also took notice on the ticker appeared in electronic media and again directed the service providers and operators not to open the YouTube.

The PTA has initiated inquiry to check which service providers and operator have opened the access to YouTube and afterwards stern action will be taken against responsible, the spokesman said.

Blocking it is cutting off access to thousands of educational lectures, Islamic lectures from international Muslim Scholars and Quranic recitations. Mr Prime Minister have thought about this ?

Its time the _smart_ folks in government and PTA launch their own version of online video sharing, search engine, social networking and may be even the headless also start thinking to invent their own Internet.

There were no service providers that intentionally opened access to Youtube. There was a problem on the International undersea fiber connecting Pakistan on its Western Segment. As a measure to divert traffic around this route, the landing station providers re-routed the traffic but forgot to reapply necesary filters to block Youtube on the new routes. This was corrected as soon as it was pointed out to Transworld and PTCL - the 2 landing station providers.

First of all you seriously need to do some proof reading of the content that you put up here! Its horrible! To come to matters at hand, it would be very constructive if we could move on and open the vault that is youtube and use it to watch something that would help us. The problem with us is that we market someone's wrong doings for free and make fools out of ourselves. We choose to ignore all the good things that are available on this website and keep on reminding the world that some moron made a video which we love to hate. Something remote would always be remote unless you rant about it. The smart ones would know what i mean.

Blocking the Whole Youtube is showing the incompetency of our IT Ministry or PTA. Because all the other Muslim countries just block the limited content in youtube rather to block the whole site. This is free site to express the individual not the website. It makes the loss of students who are learning and getting information and reasearch material. technical product reviews. etc.

Yeah take that Youtube. Oh wait the TTP still blow up Pakistanis everyday. Nice priorities Pakistan. What a lame smoke screen from the Pak government. Ineffective smoke and mirrors from an incompetent. To pander and protect the militants is the primary responsibility of the Pak government the ISI and the MIT. But now at least Pakistanis will be free from seeing cats play and people fall down o youtube.
