THIS refers to one of the most tragic incidents in which a young man died when he jumped off the eighth floor of a building on fire in Karachi to save his life.

The video of that incident was aired by different TV channels which terrorised many people. The young man died when he didn’t receive any help. He hanged there for about 15 minutes but no fire brigade or a rescue team reached the place.

The young man, identified as Owais, was there for a job interview in the State Life building in Saddar. He was a student of Karachi University. After the fire erupted on the eighth floor, he hung on the window pane to avoid fire inside. As he was unable to hold any longer, he jumped or might have slipped.

Later, the Sindh chief minister also visited the area and inquired about the situation. But it was too late. It is very sad to see that rescue teams in government institutions like fire brigade are always late when such incidents happen.

All those who have shown irresponsibility which caused the death of the young man should be punished. It was also disgusting to see our news channels airing video of the young man falling from the eighth floor.

The media should have thought about his family, relatives and friends. After watching this video many people got disturbed.

Why on earth did our channels broadcast the footage of a man jumping from the eighth floor of a building?
