LANDI KOTAL, Dec 4: The border guards at Torkham fired warning shots after a jetfighter of Nato intruded into airspace of Pakistan on Tuesday evening.

Officials said that guards posted at hilltops along the Torkham border in Khyber Agency resorted to firing in the air to alert their colleagues at the nearby checkposts when a Nato jetfighter entered Pakistani airspace around 5:30pm.

The plane remained at the Pakistani side of the border for few minutes and then flew back to Afghanistan.

Also, militants demolished houses of two activists of Shalobar Peace Committee in Bara tehsil of Khyber Agency on Tuesday.

Officials said that armed members of banned Lashkar-i-Islam planted explosives in the houses of peace activists, Qadir Khan and Jahangir, and blew them up.

The successive explosions, which were heard far and wide, destroyed several parts of the houses. Qadir Khan and Jahangir had already vacated their houses owing to fear of militant attacks, officials said.

Lashkar-i-Islam has threatened all peace activists to dissociate themselves from the government-sponsored peace bodies in the area.

In Lakki Marwat, the law enforcers defused an explosive devise planted near the house of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl provincial chief and former MNA Maulana Amanullah Khan in Tajori town on Tuesday.

According to an official, Maulana Amanullah Khan’s son and former union council nazim Maulana Asghar Ali spotted the device near the entrance of their hujra and informed police. He said that law enforcers reached the place and defused the explosive device.—Dawn Report
