Excellent article! Observer has a valid point too, the composition of a standing committee with members who represent vested interests rather than the nation reflects very poorly on the selector of the committee yet it does not mean that bona fide parliamentary committees should not question “policy”. The committee however should have no direct influence over a Minister.

I disagree with the last sentence of the article. It is important to reconstitute the Standing Committee by picking members who have no clash of interest rather than telling a Parliamentary Committee to not look at policy matters.
