Asad Shafiq ruled out of India tour with injury

KARACHI: Pakistan middle-order batsman Asad Shafiq’s inclusion in the limited-overs squads for India became doubtful after he sustained an injury during a domestic Twenty20 tournament in Lahore, DawnNews reported on Friday.

Shafiq, who was representing Karachi Dolphins in the country’s premier T20 competition, injured the middle finger of his left hand while fielding during a match against Bahawalpur Stags on Monday.

The injury was confirmed after he underwent scans on his left hand and has been ordered a four-week rest by doctors, a DawnNews report said.

The 26-year-old batsman from Karachi is the second player to have been ruled out of the India tour, with all-rounder Abdul Razzaq earlier being declared unfit by the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) medical board.

The PCB’s selection committee is expected to announce the one-day international and Twenty20 squads for the Indian tour on Saturday.

Return of Younis back in ODI , Probably will come back at 3 behind Nasir and Hafeez and K.Akmal to be at 4, Misbah at 5, U,Akmal at 6 , Afridi at 7, Sohail Tanvir at 8 , Umar Gul at 9 , Saeed Ajmal at 10.Raza Hasan. Not my best 11 but thats what it will be in my opinion

Oh meray Allah!. Does that mean yet another chance for Imran Farhat and/or Imran Nazir or Faisal Iqbal? I sure hope not. Why dont we select talented players like Haris Sohail or Usman Salahuddin this time for a change to give boost to our youth?

Abdul Razaq injured? The man played for Lahore today and won them a near-lost match by hitting 14 runs in last 3 balls. Why are these officials always ready to drop Razzaq and still select Afridi even if he is bowling badly and making no scores.

Oh my god such a relief to Indian team that he's not playing!!!.I think we should offer prayers of thanks no provided if someone please tell us who is he anyway AND OF WHAT CONSEQUENCE TO US...even Miandad cant save pak of a drubbing at the hands of India this time round.

Injury is part of the game but bad selection kills the game even before it is played. There is plenty of talent in Pakistan to off set injury set-back only if players are selected on their merit & performance.
