PESHAWAR, Dec 6: Wrestling teams from India, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka have arrived in the city to participate in the forthcoming Bacha Khan International Peace Wrestling Championship which commences from Saturday at the Qayyum Sports Complex.
President Pakistan Wrestling Federation and Provincial Minister for Sports Syed Aqil Shah disclosed that all appropriate measures had been taken for smooth staging of the international event.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti is the chief patron for the event.
The Indian team reached here on Wednesday evening while teams from Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and hosts Pakistan had their practice rounds at the Qayyum Sports Complex on Thursday.
Asked about the security arrangements for the event, Aqil said foolproof measures have been taken and the teams will be provided with all the facilities.
He disclosed that Anoki also donated a wrestling ring to Pakistan which will be airlifted from Japan to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and will go a long way in boosting the sports of wrestling in the country.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tourism Corporation and Pakistan Wrestling Federation along with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sports Board are jointly organising the event. The entry will be absolutely free.—APP
