LAHORE, Dec 6: The Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) in collaboration with Akzo Nobel Pakistan Ltd. (ANPL) is launching a three-month course to train manpower in the field of paint industry.

The authority has decided that people in 16-40 years age cohort with middle level qualification will be allowed to take up the course.

Tevta and Akzo Nobel Pakistan Ltd on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at Tevta Secretariat. Tevta Chairman Arif Saeed and ANPL CEO Jehanzeb Khan signed the document. The collaboration will help impart demand-driven technical and vocational training to the youth who will gain modern skills for self-employment.

According to the agreement details, the ANPL and Tevta will mutually collaborate in the Pilot Painters Training Programme (PPTP). The ANPL will provide visiting faculty for conducting the training programmes as well as training material and tools.

These tools will primarily be used to supplement the training programme through familiarisation with ANPL technology and students; learning ANPL product strengths and qualities.

The ANPL will provide branded tool kits to both ANPL recommended painters and Tevta painters participating in PPTP. A stipend amounting to Rs3,000 would be given to course participants.

The ANPL will train two instructors of Government Technical Training Institute, Gulberg, as master trainer with PPTP first batch.

The Tevta will ensure admission of the trainees and provide necessary space for workshops/classrooms and also be responsible for encouraging the participants of PPTP to use ANPL recommended products and procedures. The trainees completing PPTP will be provided with certificates by Tevta’s Trade Testing Board. — Staff Reporter
