THIS is with reference to the culling of Australian sheep. Originally this shipment was rejected by Bahrain authorities and then this was offered to Kuwait as this country is a major importer of live Australian sheep.

Even Kuwait rejected this shipload due to scabby mouth disease. This fact is not known in Pakistan and even the high commissioner does not seem to be aware of it. It was only after Kuwait rejected this shipment that it was diverted to Pakistan.

Kuwait did, at later date, accept a second shipment of Australian sheep which was also destined for Bahrain, but it was in excess of their requirements. That three different governments, those of Bahrain, Kuwait and Pakistan, found health issues with this shipment of sheep should be reason enough to accept gracefully the fact of diseased sheep and close the subject.
