PARIS: President Asif Ali Zardari arrived here on Sunday to attend a conference on “Stand up for Malala — Stand up for girl’s right to education” being organised jointly by Pakistan and Unesco.

The president came to Paris after visiting Malala Yousufzai at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

The conference will pay tribute to the 15-year-old girl, who survived an assassination attempt by the Taliban, for her determined efforts to defend girls’ education in Pakistan.

A special Malala fund will be established on this occasion to raise money for girls’ education throughout the world and Pakistan will pledge seed money for it.

The event coincides with the International Human Rights Day and it will bring together representatives of governments, UN partners, international and bilateral organisations, foundations, donors and civil society organisations, besides academics, religious leaders, eminent personalities and other stakeholders.—APP

COMMENTS

  1. please give equal rights to women either she is malala or afia siddigue

  2. Well the actual purpose is to check on his palaces and other investments. Poor Malala a poster child being used for their own purposes by one and all. How has anyone or any organization helped education in Pakistan over the last sixty odd years.? The statistics speak for themselves.

  3. what a joke …….i am sure girl name afia saddiquie kidnapped by usa from Pak has no rights
May Allah deal with these people one day or on day of judgment day Ameen

    • Better wait for the Day of Judgement. Allah does not intervene in human affairs.
Allah has much more important work no doubt than dealing men. You think Allah was created for us?

  4. A noble cause — if money used for girls education.
