LONDON: Pakistan leg-spinner Danish Kaneria's appeal against the lifetime ban given to him by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) was adjourned on Monday.

Kaneria was punished by the ECB Disciplinary Panel in June for his role in a spot-fixing scheme after being found guilty of pressuring former Essex team-mate Mervyn Westfield into accepting cash in return for trying to concede a set number of runs in an over during a English county 40-over match in 2009.

The 31-year-old, who denies all involvement in the plot, will likely have to wait until the new year for the case to resume.

The adjournment came following legal submissions from both sides in London and a new date for the hearing will be agreed in due course.

The Pakistan Cricket Board said in July that Kaneria would be suspended from playing in his home country until the outcome of the appeal was known.
