Iran Gas pipe line is very good idea , but USA is opposed to it. Crossing USA objection will be not be dangerous but fatal economically. West can stop all relations with lending agencies like, IMF etc. which can lead economic implosion.

Your opinion of Iran – Pakistan “sounds” good but take that decision after the IMF loan is disbursed. Otherwise uncle sam will stop the IMF loan and there will be a push from IMF for returning the loan taken already (US$1 Bn per month from March / April 2013).

Yet another problem where short term solutions will not solve the issue. Does not mean that we should not do anything. Immediately all luxury cars should be banned from using CNG. The only long-term solution is Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline, we should move quickly and get it done with whether US likes it or not. There are always solutions if we have state machinery which cares about its people and not its own pockets.

Shame for polcy planners and economic managers. There is no shrtage of gas but a scenario is being painted to justify import of LNG. CNG stations owned by politicians pilfer gas and also don’t pay bills. Gas theft is estimated above 500mmcfd and CNG accounts for less than 100mmcfd.

are you trying to create division. i was in karachi for 3 weeks last month and each time it took around two and a half to three hours to fill our car with cng.

Can you believe that the present government is worried about the dwindling gas reserves of pakistan? Do they really care if two of our major gas fields will deplete till 2022?
They had only cared if they had any chance of being in government in 2022. So Mr. Zardari has planned to come again that year. . . Come on pakistanis —get ready for another Zardari show…

I do not know why there is even a problem. Baluchistan alone has more gas than Iran.

Well I still belive that CNG is better option as the cost of CNG is lower the Petrol. So even if Pakistan has to import CNG it still will pay less money then importing same amount of Petrol. So it is step in right direction to use CNG to go to low cost economy. In Canada price of Petrol is around $1.20 compared to that CNG costs around $0.70 for Petrol equivalent liters. So difference of 50 cents or approximately 35% lower costs. So even if you have to buy CNG from international markets because local supply is dwindeling its still better to import CNG then Petrol.

So not sure who in your government is making this decisions and statements but someone needs to think it through.

Karachi have no CNG or gas shortage.This shortage is limited only to Punjab and Northern areas.
