LAHORE, Dec 13: They say you can’t step in a river twice and the axiom proved true when Punjab chief minister’s bid to relive his youthful days during a visit to a local women’s college the other day cost him his Indian visit.

Shahbaz Sharif went to Kinnaird College, a local prestigious institution, to distribute laptops among the students on Wednesday.

Presenting himself as a sporty and jovial public figure, he not only showed the students his singing talent but also played cricket with them and even clean bowled a batswoman on his third delivery.

The sport activity, however, aggravated the backbone problem Shahbaz had been suffering since long, making him cancel his planned one-day visit to Chandigarh, Indian Punjab capital, on Thursday.

He was to lead a business delegation to Chandigarh, where he was also scheduled to watch a kabaddi match between Pakistan and India.

The delegation was to leave for India on Friday morning (Dec 14). But the businessmen who were to accompany the chief minister were communicated that the visit had been ‘rescheduled’ and they would depart on Thursday morning.

Later, on Thursday night, the delegates received a text message on their cell phones informing them the visit stood cancelled for indisposition of the chief minister.
