PESHAWAR, Dec 14: Pakistan People’s Party, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has planned to launch a 40-day campaign by the end of this month for bringing some known personalities of other political parties into the PPP fold in order to strengthen the party for coming general election.

“This will be part of our election campaign, but I cannot disclose names of the people at the moment,” said PPP provincial senior vice-president Azam Afridi while speaking at a press conference at Peshawar Press Club on Friday.

He said that MPA Nighat Orakzai, who had recently joined the PPP after quitting PML-Q, had been appointed provincial vice-president of the party.  She will also work as spokesperson for the provincial president Anwar Saifullah Khan.

On this occasion, a former nazim of minority in Hangu and old guard of PML-N Naseeb Chand announced to join the PPP.

“I resigned from the PML-N because its leaders never bothered to work for people of Hangu and most of its workers have got disappointed,” he claimed and added that he was forced by his people to join the PPP.

He said that the PPP had always raised the issues of minorities besides increasing their seats in the National Assembly, Senate, and provincial assemblies.

“My father served the minority communities as MPA in past and I would work with the same zeal from the PPP platform if given chance,” Mr Chand said.

Ms Orakzai said that she had left the PML-Q due to irresponsible attitude of its provincial leadership. She said that she joined the PPP to serve the people. She said that MPA Shazia Aurangzeb, who recently joined the party by quitting PML-N, would also be assigned responsibility so that they all would initiate teamwork for the party.

Meanwhile, a meeting of People’s Party Workers Ittehad has accused the party ministers of selling jobs’ quota and ignoring party workers.

A meeting of the workers was held at the residence of Aziz Khan at Hassan Garhi with Shaukat Khan Mohmand in the chair.

Malang Jan, Mohammad Ashfaq advocate, Habibur Rehman and others also spoke on the occasion and said that some of the party ministers had failed to work for the party and remained busy in accumulation of wealth through corruption.

They urged the party leadership to appoint sincere people as office-bearers in different districts and union councils and allot tickets to devoted activists.—Bureau Report
