Kashmir issue should be resolved on priority: Farooq
LAHORE: All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Saturday said that Kashmir issue should be resolved on priority basis.
Speaking to reporters on his arrival along with a seven-member delegation at Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore, he said that Pakistan had always talked about the resolution of Kashmir issue and its political and diplomatic support had always kept the morale of Kashmiri people high.
He said the purpose of their visit was to speed up the efforts for the resolution of Kashmir issue, adding they will meet all political parties during their visit to Pakistan.
Farooq said that issues were being discussed at international fora for the resolution of various issues between Pakistan and India was a good omen.
He said that Pak-India relations were entering into a new phase which was also welcomed by the people of Kashmir. All outstanding issues can be resolved if both sides come close to each other, he added.
India should show flexibility in its attitude, he said and added that all treaties should be reviewed so that flaws in it could be removed.
Kashmir issue was a trilateral issue and the participation of all stake-holders was imperative to resolve it amicably, said the APHC leader adding that the issue was a political problem which could not be resolved through power.
Pakistan and India should head forward for the resolution of Kashmir by keeping in mind the importance of the core issue, he said.
