Sachin , the greatest cricketer the world has produced. It is shame that GOD of cricket is treated like ordinary cricketer by media and fellow cricketers. people who criticize him must realize what they are doing, this is disgusting. he should have been beyond selection pressures because believe me,you will never see another sachin tendulkar in time to come . it is a very sad day. I am in total shock.

If Tendulkar wants to continue he should perform specially at difficult times. He is no more able to deliver and come to expectations of his fans,it is better for him to retire now.

Money I would guess is the primary reason. Trust me its not walking money they are making these days…the amounts are astronomical. Second and a distant second reason might be misguided self belief for a last hurrah. As his keenest supporter I do hope he can go out on a high…but I doubt it.

Secondly what all our Indian players forget is they are entertainers and entertainers alone. Across the border Pakistan still respects a lot of its heroes. But with the amount of money floating in India every players is expected to perform. Else we are the first people to pull him down from the pedestal. Long gone are the days when respect ruled the hearts and much was forgiven. In today’s India there is no room for mediocrity…..atleast in the private sector….If you are mediocre, yet want to succeed there is only place in India where you can do that….politics

I personally believe thatMr. Sachin Tendulkar should hang his bat, but he may be waiting for his 50th test century to come. Mr. Sunil Gavaskar retired after scoring a century and media asked him why he was retiring. Mr. Gavaskar replied that he was not interested to hear’ when’ instead of’ why’. Yes many other great players were forced to retire but not Mr. Gavaskar.

A cricketer (or for that matter any sportsman) is not a govt. employee who gets paid from public exchequer. But being a public figure, he can be subjected to criticism and people are entitled to have their opinion. But the decision to continue or to retire should be his and his alone. This craze about celebrities, as if we own them, is an infantile obsession.

sir, i feel all good cricketers are highly commercial and selfish. now sachin is albatross to Indian team.. but he will not quit till we loose number of matches due to him. this is the way of glorious game called cricket.
