LAHORE, Dec 17: Supreme Court Bar Association president Mian Israrul Haq said on Monday that instead of protesting against the superior judiciary, Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain should appear before the Supreme Court.

Accompanied by former SCBA chief Asma Jehangir at a press talk, Mr Haq was responding to a question about the contempt of court notice issued by the apex court to Mr Hussain.

Ms Jehangir said frequent use of contempt of court law would diminish its effectiveness. She said respect of the judiciary was mandatory, but judges should use the contempt law judiciously and avoid remarks that might lead to uproar in the country.
