Junaid, Khalid to be inducted into PHF Executive Board
LAHORE: Olympians Khawaja Junaid and Khalid Bashir will fill the two vacant posts of the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) Executive Board and the decision in this regard will be announced at the meeting of the Board to be held here on Dec 31.
The 49th PHF Congress meeting will also be held soon after the Board’s meeting.
Sources told Dawn that the two posts had been lying vacant for almost a year ever since Manzoor Junior and Asad Malik left the office after developing differences with the PHF. Now the PHF has picked Junaid and Khalid for the vacated positions at the Executive Board.
Junaid was recently disaffiliated from the national team management as manager-cum-coach after the London Games. Khalid was also a member of the national selection committee, which has been dissolved.
Only Chaudhry Arshad, another member of the selection committee, could not get any new role in the PHF.
Meanwhile, Junaid is likely to also be given the post of director academies in place of Rana Mujahid. The decision in this regard will also be announced after the meeting of the Congress and the Board.
Meanwhile, a press release issued by the PHF stated that the performance of senior and junior teams, calendar of events for 2013, budget estimates, audited statement of accounts and appointment of auditors would be discussed in the two meetings.
