MIRPURKHAS, Dec 19: Bandits struck at the house of a Hindu goldsmith in Tando Jan Mohammad town in the early hours of Wednesday and robbed the family of Rs1.6 million cash, 500 grams of gold ornaments and 1,250 grams of silver jewellery.

The four armed bandits barged into the house of Photomal Lohano, broke open locks on the cabinets and made away with the hefty loot with the utmost ease, according to witnesses.

Police cordoned off the area after the robbery and went after the bandits with the help of their footprints but failed to trace them.

SHO of the Tando Jan Mohammad police station, Ghulam Hussain Sadayo, said the police sent for sniffer dogs from Mirpurkhas after they failed to catch up with the fleeing bandits through their footprints.

But even dogs failed to lead them to the criminals, he said, adding the search was on.

No case of robbery was lodged till the filing of this report.
