pakistan, west indies

KARACHI: Pakistan's upcoming tour to the West Indies in June-July next year is likely to be split into two parts due to a scheduling problem.

The West Indies reportedly wanted to postpone Pakistan's tour to August because of a clash with a tri-nation tournament with Sri Lanka and India. However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) refused to make the change as it hopes to host India in August.

"This proposed shift did not find favour with the PCB for reasons which are understandable to the WICB," the West Indies cricket board said in a press release.

Pakistan, who were set to play two Tests, five ODIs and two T20s in West Indies, will play the limited overs series first with the Test series likely to be played later.

Pakistan will be playing a limited-overs series in India - the first bilateral series between the two countries in five years.

"We wanted long-term bonding with India on reciprocal basis, and to extend our relationship we will invite India to play a series next year in August. We will find a way to at least keep the window open," a PCB official was reported as saying by ESPNCricinfo.
