KARACHI, Dec 19: Pakistan are planning to divide their tour to the West Indies next July into two halves as they contemplate hosting arch-rivals India in August for a series which has not been confirmed yet.

Pakistan were scheduled to play two Tests, five One-day Internationals and two Twenty20 Internationals against the West Indies in June and July but will now either play the Tests or the limited over series to accommodate the series with India.

The West Indies were supposed to host Pakistan in June and July but they also are involved in a limited overs tri-series against India and Sri Lanka at the same time. The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) thus requested the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to postpone their Caribbean tour to August.

But this would have intervened with PCB’s plans of hosting India and thus Pakistan’s tour to the West Indies had to be split.

The PCB is planning to propose the offer to invite India for a home-series next August at the conclusion of the limited overs series in India.

“The limited-over series isn’t what we wanted,” a PCB official told a website on Wednesday. “We wanted long-term bonding with India on reciprocal basis, and to extend our relationship we will invite India to play a series next year in August. We will find a way to at least keep the window open.”

Pakistan had postponed their tour to Zimbabwe to accommodate their short visit to India later this month. They were scheduled to tour Zimbabwe before their tour to South Africa in early 2013.—Agencies
