DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Dec 23: Three people were injured, one of them critically, when residents clashed with police over the construction of a controversial wall in Daraban Kalan here on Sunday.

The SHO of Daraban Kalan police station, Alamgir Khan, was suspended from service immediately after the clash, officials and local political leaders said.

The protesters said the police resorted to intense firing in the air and tear gas shelling when the people gathered to protest against the construction of a controversial wall by the police near the bus stand to occupy the land. A civil case on the land is already pending in the court.

Residents said the police manhandled the land claimant, Attaur Rehman, when he tried to stop the police from constructing the wall. —Correspondent
