SWABI, Dec 26: The vigilance committee formed in line with the Peshawar High Court orders has recommended action against the staff of the basic health unit in Beka area over absenteeism.
The committee members led by Laiq Khan told reporters here on Wednesday that they found most of the staff absent from duty during a visit to the said BHU in the noon.
“Members of the BHU staff led by a doctor total nine but only two lady health visitors were present at BHU during our visit,” Mr Laiq said.
He said when asked, LHWs first claimed that the doctor was participating in a training programme at Bacha Khan Medical Complex in Shah Mansoor area but later one of them retracted and said the doctor was away.
The committee chief said the local residents later confirmed the frequent absenteeism at the hospital.
He said the committee had recommended strict action against the absentee staff to the district coordination officers.
Mr Laiq said the committee would continue paying surprise raids to other BHUs and hospitals in the district to ensure better patient care.
