KARACHI, Dec 27: Macter Pharma whipped Jaffer Brothers by 98 runs to qualify for the final of the New A.J. Sports Multinational Champions League Twenty 20 cricket tournament at the Naya Nazimabad Hussain Lawai Stadium here the other day.

Batting first in the second semi-final after winning the toss, Macter Pharma posted 189-9 on the board from their stipulated 20 overs. Nadeem Siddique and Ali Iqbal led the way with cameo knocks. Nadeem blasted four boundaries and a brace of sixes in making 39 from mere 12 deliveries, while Ali’s 15-ball 30 contained four fours and one six. Wasim Ahmed scored 26.

Of-spinner Adil Wadood claimed three for 33.

Jaffer Brothers found themselves in trouble during their run chase against the off-spin duo of Akhtar Ali and Faisal Shafiq, who between them captured six wickets, and were sent packing inside 16 overs for just 91.

Fahad Anjum (17) and Sanaullah (15) were the only batsmen to make respectable contributions as Akhtar snared three wickets for 15 runs and Faisal bagged three for 10.

In Sunday’s final at the same venue, Macter Pharma will meet Sindh High Court Green, who earlier defeated Prime Systems in the first semi-final.
