PA adopts 10 bills, two resolutions

LAHORE, Dec 27: The Punjab government adopted 10 bills and two resolutions on Thursday.

The bills — the Punjab Protection Against Harassment of Women at Work Places; Government Servants Housing Foundation; Punjab Land Revenue; Punjab Partition of Immovable Property; Women University, Multan; Government College Women University, Faisalabad; Government College Women University, Sialkot; Government Sadiq College Women University, Bahawalpur; and Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency and Punjab Motion Pictures — which were returned to the house by former governor Sardar Latif Khosa were tabled in the house and subsequently passed with a majority.

PPP Ehasanul Haq Nolathia raised several objections on the Government Servants Housing Foundations, but these were voted out by the treasury members.

The house also passed a resolution on the inclusion of thalassemia free clause in nikha nama. It also adopted a resolution for the provision of electricity to tube-wells in the agriculture sector on flat rate.

The proceedings began an hour behind its schedule and paid a tribute to Benazir Bhutto and offered fateha for her.
